ITENE is a leading research centre specialised in packaging that helps companies to join the circular economy and maximise the design, safety, and functionality of their packaging. It works in all the phases of the packaging value chain. For this, we develop new packaging materials with different goals: the incorporation of recycled materials, the improvement of material properties, the reduction of materials or the improvement of biopolymers performance. For this, we consider their industrial scaling and cost suitability.
We also evaluate new and current packaging solutions from different perspectives (food safety, reusability, recyclability, compostability, packaging optimization for distribution, etc.) and adapt them if necessary. And, concerning their end-of-life, we innovate in reusable; recycling, including mechanical, chemical and enzymatic, or compostability processes and systems.
With almost 30 years of experience, we put our knowledge and technology at the service of industry through R&D projects, technical assistance, testing services and training. Between 2020 and 2023 alone, more than 1,819 companies trusted our team of highly qualified professionals. We work with clients and partners at an international level, and we do so from our headquarters in Valencia, with more than 11,750 m2 of laboratories and pilot plants equipped with the best technology, which have been expanded with a new building and the future extension of the main building.
