Crain and Plastics Recyclers Europe are pleased to announce the launch of the Plastics Recycling Awards Europe!

The awards are designed to recognise and celebrate achievement throughout the scope of the European plastics recycling industry. They offer an insight into current developments in recycled material usage, product design and innovative manufacturing. Finalists products will be displayed in the product feature area at PRSE. The winners will be announced on the second day of the exhibition.


Entry Qualifications:  Be innovative. Be sustainable 

  • Designed in Europe, Recycled in Europe, or Manufactured in Europe
  • Entries can be submitted from product manufacturers, designers and design engineers at consultancies, processors and end-use companies
  • Be made or designed to be made from post-consumer/post-industrial recycled plastics
  • Recycled plastic can be sourced from any sector but must not be post-production scrap
  • Plastics in products must be at least 50% recycled plastic. Entries must disclose the sector and country from which the recycled material is sourced, and be willing to provide evidence on request
  • The consumer and packaging category entries require that a product, model, or prototype be provided. Finalists will have their entry on display at PRSE. 


Press Clearance: Finalists and winners will be covered in PNE. The information on the entries for these is taken from the entry forms. If there is any specific information in your entry that is sensitive and should not be published, then please indicate this clearly within your entry.

Recycled Plastic Consumer Lifestyle Product of the Year

This award covers products for markets such as domestic products, sports and leisure goods, electronic products, fashion accessories, medical and pharmaceutical devices.

Entries are encouraged from product designers and design engineers at consultancies, processors and end-use companies.

It is an essential part of this entry that a product, model, or prototype is submitted otherwise the entry will not be considered. However, if the product is too large please contact us.

  • Product that needs to have a function that improves everyday life: electronic household equipment, sports material, etc. does not include packaging.
  • Product produced and developed in Europe.
  • Finished product (advertised or not?).
  • Product which is not older than 1,5 years.
  • Product with minimum 50% of recycled content.
  • Design of this product needs to consider recycling aspect (end-of life).
  • Product sample or prototype needs to be shipped and physically examined. If the product is too large, please contact us
  • Supporting material: brochures, videos, photographs.

Technology Innovation in Plastics Recycling of the Year

This award recognises companies that have instigated, developed or applied innovative technologies. It is open to organisations or companies which can demonstrate how they have gained or provided tangible benefits through genuine plastics materials or processing innovations. The judges will be looking for quantifiable benefits in areas such as production efficiency, quality standards, product performance or profitability. 

The significant portion of the entry must have taken place in the last 18-month period, however, we do accept that many programmes and products have longer life spans than 18 months. We welcome entries that have an international element, but the significant portion must have taken place in Europe. Entries must be new - revamps or programmes which have run virtually unchanged for several years are not eligible.



  • In the scope of this category are: technology, machinery, equipment, innovative solutions for different processes of plastics recycling
  • Technology produced and developed in Europe
  • Technology no older than 5 years
  • Technical information needs to be provided (no physical assessment possible)
  • Innovative technology
  • Supporting material: brochures, videos, photographs

Recycled Plastic Packaging Product of the Year

This award covers products for consumer packaging. Entries are encouraged from product designers and design engineers at consultancies, processors and end-use companies. It is an essential part of this entry that a product, model, or prototype is submitted – otherwise the entry will not be considered    

  • Product that needs to be consumer goods, commercial packaging used (including food and non-food packaging e.g.  dairy product, drinks, washing liquids etc.).
  • Packaging produced and developed in Europe.
  • Finished product 
  • New product which is not older than 2 years.
  • Product with minimum 50% of recycled content.
  • Design of this product needs to consider recycling aspect (end-of life).
  • Environmental aspect – how does it contribute to limiting plastic waste, saving resources (i.e.: production, transportation i.e.: energy, CO2 etc).
  • Product needs to undergo the RecyClass testing http://www.recyclass.eu/en/home/ (the final report need to be uploaded)
  • Product sample/prototype needs to be provided/shipped. However, if the product is too large they can contact us.
  • Supporting material: brochures, videos, photographs.

Plastics Recycling Ambassador of the Year

This award will be presented to an inspirational individual who has made an outstanding contribution to the European Plastics Recycling Industry in the last 12months. Please nominate individuals you feel would be worthy of such an honor. Please note you are unable to nominate yourself.

Building & Construction Product Made from Recycled Plastic of the Year

This award category covers products used in construction destined both for outdoor and indoor applications. It includes a wide range of items including: flooring, piping, window frames, insulation, roofing, doors, wall coverings etc. The judges will be looking at how the product benefits the building/structure/surroundings from the sustainability point of view and will be focusing on its durability.
